It was a rainy and gross October about 17 years ago when I first visited Amsterdam. The city quickly got its claws into me with the beautiful canals, the myriad museums, and extensive green spaces. I left after two weeks knowing that at some point I wanted to call it home. It took another dozen years before I would return and though many things had happened in my life in the intervening time, my desire to live in Amsterdam hadn't faded. In November of 2020, I moved across the ocean from Seattle to finally live in the city that stuck with me after all that time.
It has been nearly 5 years since then and I will soon start the final process of obtaining Dutch citizenship so I can make this my permanent home. It has been a long journey and in that time I have visited many other cities in the Netherlands. Haarlem, Utrecht, Delft, Breda, Den Haag, and Hoorn are all great places in their own right but none have had the same magnetism that Amsterdam has had for me. This is why I wish to make it my permanent home.
While I am celebrating my 5 year anniversary in the city, the city itself is celebrating its 750th year. I want to participate in the celebrations as well in what little way I can. To that end, I'm holding a sale on all books and games related to Amsterdam (and the Netherlands, in general). Below is the list of all the products discounted by 15%. Additionally, any purchase over €75 will receive free shipping to the Netherlands. So please enjoy an extension of my love of this city I call home until the end of November.
