Hang Up Your Sword and Settle Down

It is time for something new

This month, I'm doing something a little different with the Bloggy Bundle. It's all books! Now one of those books happens to be a tabletop RPG book but still, three books!

My good friend Jess recommended that I read Travis Baldree's Legends & Lattes and I can't thank her enough. Viv's story of retirement and trying to find her way with a fresh start. Her plan? Opening the first ever coffee shop in the city of Thune. The story follows Viv as she sets up shop, meets the locals, and becomes a pillar of the community. It is an incredibly feel good story that puts you in a great mood.

Baldree followed up Legends & Lattes with a prequel novel that shares the story of Viv's first love and discovery of the joys of reading. Bookshops & Bonedust easily earned itself a spot in my top books. Some of that may be because I want to emulate Fern but it might have something to do with Potroast too. Those who have read the book, know what I mean. If you haven't read it, I can't recommend it enough!

Finally, we come to Stewpot: Tales from a Fantasy Tavern takes the experience of Viv and gamifies it for your players to enjoy. The game itself is cosy as well. It is set up as 20 different mini-games that lead players through miniature slice of life "adventures". As a diceless system, the game is all about the stories you tell together - leading to a relaxing and fun time.

I would be remiss not to mention the absolutely incredible art featured throughout the book. The ten artists that Takuma Okada worked with to bring this game to life brought their A game and made truly stellar art for the book. Plus, the book includes 4 recipes to really bring the cosy home.
